The Director of Finance and Operations has full functional responsibleness for all fiscal, personnel and administrative operations of the Arts & Lectures unit of measurement. Equally role of the senior management team, the Director of Finance and Operations serves as an counselor to the Executive Manager and Acquaintance Director on high-level matters of critical importance, creating and implementing short and long-range strategic financial, personnel, and operation plans and goals. Directs contractors, vendors and departmental staff at select A&50 events and has the autonomy and authority to represent the organisation at high level meetings and events. Serves as a senior betoken of contact in the absence of the Executive and Associate Managing director. Responsibilities include direction of all Arts & Lectures finances, including circuitous income accounts exceeding $10 million annually, as well as management at the department level of the Arts & Lectures $30 million endowment campaign funds. Has delegated signature authority for all Arts & Lectures funds (over twoscore account-funds). Additionally, the A&50 unit is granted procurement authority to execute contracts for professional services in excess of $3 million annually; the Managing director of Finance and Operations established structures, policy and process to ensure success in delegation and auditability of all section transactions. Handles high level contractual negotiation with agents/artists/managers under the Associate Director in support of Associate Director's contract delegation authorisation. Responsible for circuitous financial reporting, including economic forecasting and modeling, projections on investment income, and advising the Executive Manager on financial strategies and risks. Prepares reports and presents on financial performance and projections to the Arts & Lectures Finance Council (sub-committee of the Board) on behalf of the Executive Director. Consequence of error in fiscal reporting and advising is exceptionally high impact. In addition to short- and long-range strategy, is responsible for directing the authoritative operations of the Arts & Lectures system on a mean solar day-to-day footing with wide impact, autonomy and authority to act, including managing the needs of all personnel (25 Career Staff, numerous express appointment staff, and ~70 student assistants) and managing all infinite and facility needs for A&L.
