Lost John Locke Were Gonna Need to Watch That Again Clip

"On 1 side of the scale there is good, on the other side… evil." It was unclear if Dogen was saying that it would be best if the scale e'er tipped toward good, or if the calibration is all-time when perfectly balanced—that reality requires a "unity of opposites," to borrow a philosophical phrase. (I likewise like the philosophical phrases "lunch" and "Coincidentia Oppositorium," which totally needs to exist a Harry Potter spell.) Time will tell if Dogen's calibration thingie should be taken literally or metaphorically. Are we really headed to some Christian Cease Times or Islamic 24-hour interval of Judgment/Mean solar day of Resurrection? Or do you remember Dogen was simply pushing Sayid'due south redemption buttons or playing to his I'g-going-to-hell pessimism in society to dispense him into attacking Smokey?
